British Business Bank is an official partner of Small Business Advice Week
British Business Bank is supporting Small Business Advice Week because we are committed to helping UK businesses to grow.
Smaller businesses are critical to the health of the UK economy and we exist to help them find the finance they require and the information they need to help them reach their growth ambitions. As a Government-owned, independently-run development bank, we make finance markets work better for smaller businesses – wherever they are in the UK and wherever they are on their business journey.
We provide independent and impartial information, equipping smaller businesses with the tools they need to grow successfully.
We are currently supporting finance to around 75,000 businesses across the UK.
Too often, the growth ambitions of high potential businesses across the UK aren’t realised due to a complex financial landscape, with multiple barriers to entry for smaller businesses.
We want businesses to better understand and navigate this landscape. That’s why we have created the British Business Bank Finance Hub, an interactive tool which offers guidance for scale-up, high growth and potential high growth businesses, and can help find funding to suit their business.
Our Finance Hub has short films and expert guides to help. If they feel ready to apply for funding, there are checklists and articles from financial providers. Plus, there are case studies to learn more about real businesses who have successfully been through the process.

During Small Business Advice Week, Piers Linney – entrepreneur, investor, and Non-Executive Director at British Business Bank – will be giving UK-based companies the opportunity to win half-a-day of his time, during which he will offer advice and support about how they might best fund their business. For more details of how to enter this competition, click here.
Piers believes passionately in the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in growing the UK economy. He has an impressive track record in starting businesses and growing them to make the most of their potential. Piers is a great advocate for UK SMEs and is keen to share his experience and knowledge to help bright people make the most of the multiple opportunities for turning acorns into oaks.
Piers will also be in the studio on Wednesday September 5, talking to radio stations across the UK about the importance of small business to the UK economy.
You will also be able to catch him hosting a one-off live event on Facebook, where he will be talking to special guests and setting out his strategy for future business growth. The Piers Linney Facebook Live event is at 7pm on Monday 24 September.
We’re delighted to be supporting Small Business Advice Week at such an exciting time for businesses across the UK.
